It seems strange
that with all this rain we've had
over the last few days, and
the air saturated with moisture,
that my plants are still in want of water.
I can't bare to walk out on my sopping wet porch to pour
more water into the system. And yet,
I see the dry soil is taut and cracking--
just like the skin after fallen tears leave behind
their tight, salty residue,
essentially making the original wetness
inconsequential.
I see the green leaves are beginning to brown and
wilt at the edges.
They're so tired and thirsty.
